Change Thermostat Temperature Swing Settings

The thermostat temperature swing is the number of degrees above (for cooling) and below (for heating) the target setpoint the HVAC system will allow the temperature to fluctuate before cycling back on. 

Example: If the swing is set to 3 degrees, and the system is in Heat Mode with a setpoint of 68 degrees, the thermostat will wait until the in-home temperature is 65 before heating the home back to 68. This results in the thermostat running fewer but longer cycles, which is generally considered to be more energy efficient than running frequent shorter cycles, as you would see with a swing of 1 degree or less.

To change thermostat temperature swing settings using the website:

  1. Log into the website.
  2. In the Thermostat card, click Details.
  3. Click Advanced Configuration.
  4. In Swing, click Up or Downto adjust the number of swing degrees.
  5. Click Save.

Note: The minimum swing is 0.5 degrees and the maximum swing is 3 degrees.

To change thermostat temperature swing settings using the app:

  1. Log into the app.
  2. Tap Menu.
  3. Tap Thermostats.
  4. Tap Configure.   
    • If there are multiple thermostats in the system, tap the name of the thermostat to be adjusted.
  5. Tap Device Settings.
  6. In Overshoot, tap Add or Minus to adjust the number of overshoot degrees. 
  7. Tap Apply.

Note: The minimum swing is 0.5 degrees and the maximum swing is 3 degrees.
